Rich first discovered his passion for blacksmithing at St David’s College in Llandudno. He then moved on to Herefordshire College of Blacksmithing to learn the craft. On completion of his studies in 1998 he did his Journeyman in Gdansk, Poland and later in France. Rich returned to Wales to work as an apprentice blacksmith in Halkyn, North Wales before setting up Heat and Beat in 2000. Rich draws inspiration from nature’s forms and shapes, he combines this with his love of geometric forms and structure.
We work closely with our clients to develop the initial concept and design through to final installation. Heat and Beat produce a wide range of work from public art commissions to bespoke gates, railing and restoration.
